About Us
In Alcoutim, on the banks of the Guadiana River, a gastronomic project was born that unites Algarve tradition, French savoir-faire, and its own seafood production. The Cascas & Marés restaurant is the expression of a family history that begins with the company Anaber – Produção e Comercialização de Bivalves, Lda., founded by Ana, a Portuguese woman, and Bernard, a Frenchman.
More than a restaurant, Cascas & Marés offers an experience based on proximity to the product and the territory. The company produces its own bivalves, allowing oysters, clams, and other seafood to reach the table with an exceptional level of freshness and quality. The company produces its own bivalves. Its main activity is the export of oysters (we have oyster farms in the Ria Formosa – Culatra Island).
In the kitchen, Chef Margot, Bernard’s daughter, combines the richness of Algarve products with French culinary techniques. The menu is seasonal and evolves throughout the year, always maintaining seafood dishes as a central element. The menu also includes fish or octopus options, meat dishes, and vegetarian options, always inspired by seasonal produce.
The family identity is equally present in the desserts. The house dessert is a recipe from Ana’s late mother, preserved as a tribute and cherished memory. The menu is complemented by a gourmet coffee with French inspiration and seasonal desserts that reflect Chef Margot’s creativity.
With a privileged view over the Guadiana River and the Spanish town of Sanlúcar de Guadiana, Cascas & Marés has been winning over Portuguese and foreign visitors, who highlight the quality of the cuisine, the authenticity of the experience, and the welcoming nature of the staff.
In an Algarve often associated with the coast, Cascas & Marés invites you to discover another territory: the Algarve’s interior, where the river, tradition, and gastronomy meet at the table.
